Miniature commission painting

Custom commissions for collectors, players and wargamers

At Bierzo Art Studio we treat every commission as a unique piece. Our miniature painting service is built for collectors who want to elevate their display cabinet, Warhammer 40K and Age of Sigmar players who are after a coherent, table-ready army, board game enthusiasts who want a professional finish on their figures, and painters preparing busts or miniatures for exhibition and competition.

We work with private clients and professionals across Spain and the rest of Europe, with close communication, regular work-in-progress photos and a detailed quality check before delivery. Each project is planned so that budget, style and deadline match your goals — from a single character to a full army of hundreds of miniatures.

Commission process

How our miniature painting service works

A clear workflow with no surprises, so the process is as enjoyable as the final result.

  1. 01

    First contact

You reach out through the contact form, telling us which miniatures you want painted, the game system and the level of finish you have in mind.

  2. 02

    Quote request

We reply asking for visual references, colour schemes and any relevant details so we can prepare a tailored proposal.

  3. 03

    Project definition

We agree on the painting tier, base type, possible conversions and project milestones. If needed, we prepare a sample piece.

  4. 04

    Confirmation

We fix the price, deadline and payment terms, book your slot in the studio calendar and send shipping instructions for your miniatures.

  5. 05

    Painting

We work in batches, sharing progress photos at key stages to validate colours, contrast and finish before moving on.

  6. 06

    Final photography

Once the commission is finished, we photograph each piece in the studio so you can keep and share the result.

  7. 07

    Delivery

We pack the miniatures in custom boxes and ship them tracked and insured, staying in touch until you receive the order in perfect condition.

Quality tiers

Four finishes for different goals

Each commission is assigned a painting tier based on the intended use of the miniatures, the desired level of detail and the available budget.

Tabletop

Clean, efficient painting made for play. Solid base coats, washes, simple highlights and a functional base. Ideal for armies where the priority is enjoying coherent, table-ready games.

Tabletop Plus

A step above the standard tabletop: extra highlights, refined shading and special attention to faces, weapons and focal elements. Perfect for hero models inside an army or for collectors who want a richer finish without going full display.

Display

Showcase finish with multiple highlight layers, smooth transitions, simple freehands and more elaborate bases. Designed for single pieces, small dioramas and busts destined for the cabinet.

Competition

Top level: studied light, NMM, complex freehands, OSL, detailed textures and scenic bases. A finish ready for professional photography and painting contests.

Custom quotes

Every project is unique — and so is its quote

We don't work with fixed price lists because no two commissions are exactly alike. To prepare a realistic quote we take into account:

  • Number of miniatures and units.
  • Size and scale of the figures (28 mm, 32 mm, busts, large scale).
  • Design complexity and level of detail.
  • Chosen tier: tabletop, tabletop plus, display or competition.
  • Conversions, kitbashing, additional sculpting or custom bases.
  • Requested deadline.

With that information we prepare a written fixed quote before starting, free of charge and with no obligation. If the scope changes during production, we review the affected points together before moving on.

Shipping

Safe national and international shipping

We ship to all of Spain and to most European countries. Each miniature travels protected in technical foam and rigid boxes specifically prepared for painted pieces, minimising the risk of movement or impact during transport.

All shipments use tracked and insured courier services. We share the tracking number when the order leaves the studio and stay in touch until we confirm the parcel arrives in perfect condition. For shipments outside the European Union, local taxes or duties are the recipient's responsibility.

Lead times

Realistic timelines for a job well done

Delivery times depend on the size of the project, the chosen tier and the studio's workload at the moment of booking. A single piece can be completed in a few weeks, while a full army or a competition project may take several months, with partial deliveries if agreed.

Before confirming the commission we share an estimated start date and a target completion date. If you need the painting ready for a specific event — a tournament, a gift, an exhibition — we will do our best to fit it in whenever the schedule allows.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about commission painting

Do you take Warhammer 40K and Age of Sigmar commissions?

+

Yes. We regularly paint Games Workshop miniatures from both Warhammer 40K and Age of Sigmar, as well as The Horus Heresy, Kill Team, Warcry and other systems. We also accept Forge World figures, 3D resins and third-party miniatures.

Can I send my own miniatures or do you buy them?

+

Most clients send us their own miniatures, assembled or unassembled. If you prefer, we can also take care of the assembly and priming from the boxes you send us.

How do I request a quote for a commission?

+

Use the contact form to tell us which miniatures you want painted, the game system, the desired tier and any colour schemes or references you have. With that information we prepare a written, fixed quote.

How much does it cost to paint a Warhammer 40K or Age of Sigmar army?

+

It depends on the number of miniatures, the size of the figures and the painting tier. That's why we prepare individual quotes: each client pays exactly for the actual scope of their project.

Do you paint collector busts?

+

Yes. Busts are one of our favourite formats and we always tackle them at display or competition level, paying special attention to skin, materials and visual storytelling.

Do you paint for competitions and exhibitions?

+

Yes. We offer a competition tier designed for contests and shows, with advanced techniques such as NMM, OSL, complex freehands and custom scenic bases.

How long does a commission take?

+

A single piece usually takes a few weeks. Full armies or competition projects may require several months. We confirm an estimated deadline before starting.

Do you ship across Europe?

+

Yes. We ship to Spain and most European countries with tracked, insured courier services. Miniatures travel protected in boxes and foams prepared for painted pieces.
